Jambo from Musoma!

Jambo, dear family and friends!! I’m happy to tell you we’ve safely arrived in the town of Musoma, Tanzania (on the eastern edge of Lake Victoria)!! The weather here is really good, the Afrilux hotel is great and the people are so kind and so patient with us!

But first, let me tell you a little about our journey : Tuesday afternoon at 16h we took a plane from Brussels to Doha (Qatar), we arrived there at 23h30. On Friday morning at 2h30, we flew from Doha to Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania), and finally, Friday afternoon we took a third flight from Dar Es Salaam to Mwanza. Last but not least, we travelled approximately 190 kilometres from Mwanza to Musoma on the Tanzanian road (I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this ride alone was quite an adventure). We just didn’t have enough time to take it all in: the building, the people, the busy streets, all the different colors, …

As we found out, Musoma is very close to the Serengeti National Park, so driving up there, we even spotted our very first zebras and wildebeest! We even asked the driver to pull over so we could take some pictures (you can see one of them here).

We arrived at the hotel at 18h on Friday and I can frankly say I’ve never been so happy to take a shower in my life. At the hotel, we met Lyn and Tara from GRA and shared our first Tanzanian meal with them at the hotel. After that, we had a really hard time to keep our eyes open because we were exhausted from travelling, so we all went to bed early (but not after tasting a delicious Kilimanjaro beer).

More news from us tomorrow, when we will be giving our first computer class on the computers provided by “Close the Gap”.

P.s. In between al the flights, we did manage to lose some of our luggage, but it’s been found now – and will be delivered in our hotel in Musoma by Monday).
